{"id":228,"date":"2020-05-27T00:17:34","date_gmt":"2020-05-27T00:17:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ec2-50-17-66-55.compute-1.amazonaws.com\/2020\/05\/27\/2020-5-26-nushrat-esha-covid-grant-winner\/"},"modified":"2026-05-08T00:35:36","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T08:35:36","slug":"nushrat-esha-covid-grant-winner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cirkledin.com\/library\/student-success-stories\/nushrat-esha-covid-grant-winner\/","title":{"rendered":"Nushrat Esha &#8211; First Winner of Cirkled In $250 COVID-19 Relief Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Make time to plan, create a schedule, and never procrastinate. &nbsp;The formula that has enabled our <strong>1st COVID-19 Relief Grant winner, Nushrat Esha<\/strong>, to juggle her demanding academic coursework, volunteer commitments and her part-time job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Nushrat Esha - Winner of Cirkled In COVID-19 Relief Grant\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PHo6Yu36Uf4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nushrat will graduate from Alhambra High in Southern California in June where she has earned a 4.33 weighted GPA. &nbsp;One of her proudest moments was winning 1st place in a MESA competition where she created and led a team to create an artificial limb capable of stacking cups.&nbsp; The competition took place on the USC campus where they competed with over 10 other teams.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is currently enrolled in 3 AP classes and has taken 7 AP classes overall having passed all her AP tests.&nbsp; In addition, she has spent the last four years taking part in the Speech and Debate team where she has placed in competitions and honed her public speaking skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to volunteering, Nushrat has taken on many roles. She has worked at a food bank, supported the local Pumpkin Run, and assisted at other community events. In addition, she volunteered at <strong>Los Angeles County Hospital<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She especially valued interacting with patients and visitors at the hospital. Knowing she could brighten someone\u2019s day meant a great deal to her. Through conversations and small acts of kindness, she helped ease anxiety for patients and their families and created a calmer environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a first-generation immigrant, she has overcome many obstacles. She does not take her opportunities for granted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her perseverance and clear goals will lead her to <strong>University of California, Los Angeles<\/strong> this fall. She plans to study biology or neuroscience.
