January gave some good news to the higher education sector along with one particular continued opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Freshman Enrollment on Recovery<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

According to the latest numbers released by NSCRC<\/a> (National Student Clearinghouse), freshman enrollment was up in fall 2022!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Freshman enrollment increased by 4.3 percent. Even though there is still a gap to be filled to get to pre-pandemic levels, this is a much-needed sigh of relief for Higher Ed institutions. There is still uncertainty about the persistence of this trend, so much work has to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

$3.75B Unclaimed in Pell Grant!\ud83d\udcb0\ud83d\udcb0\ud83d\udcb0<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

According to a report by NCAN<\/a>, a whopping $3.75 Billion went unused in the Pell Grant for the High School class of 2021 – a 60% increase from the class of 2017! <\/strong>This $3.75 billion could have been infused into the higher education system and bettered so many students\u2019 lives! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We all need to continue our work in recruiting Pell Eligible students who are falling through the cracks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We need to reach students across the full spectrum of socio-economic status, races and gender and discover hidden talent, creating a win-win for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
