Hena Nezeric—isn’t just a high school student. She’s a quiet force of creativity, grit, and heart. An artist with a sketchbook full of emotions, a pianist who turns feelings into melodies, and a reader who finds courage in characters and stories. But above all, she’s a young woman with a story worth sharing—and it started thousands of miles away in Bosnia.

From Bosnia to the Big Apple: A Journey of Growth

Growing up in Bosnia, Hena always had big dreams. But with limited opportunities and access to resources, her family made a life-changing decision—to move to New York City. They left behind everything familiar for a chance at a better education, more options, and a brighter future.

The move wasn’t easy. Hena landed in one of the world’s busiest cities as a young child, still learning who she was. Surrounded by new faces, new systems, and new languages, she felt like she was starting from scratch.

“Since I moved to New York City at a young age, I didn’t really grasp any language fully,” Hena recalls. “I was always in between—never fully fluent, always trying to catch up.”

But what sets her apart is how she responded. Instead of letting confusion or fear stop her, she embraced it as a challenge. Slowly but surely, she immersed herself in English—through books, conversations, and classroom support. With each passing year, she found strength in her growth and gratitude for the people who helped her along the way.

A Passion for Learning—and Having Fun with Fancy Cars!

When she’s not diving into a new book (she especially loves self-help and romance novels), Hena is in full creative mode. She has a deep passion for art—whether she’s sketching detailed drawings or crafting beautiful sculptures from scratch.

But creativity isn’t just a hobby for Hena—it’s how she expresses who she is. Whether she’s playing the piano, building something with her hands, or snapping photos of cool cars with her brother during city drives, she’s always finding new ways to explore the world around her.

She shares that spark with others too—encouraging friends, helping classmates, and celebrating every small win along the way.

“Some of my proudest moments are when I overcome my fears and help others reach their goals beside me,” she said.

For Hena, growth isn’t just about academics. It’s about living fully, learning boldly, and lifting others as she climbs.
