— Robert Childs. Robert is a young entrepreneur, athlete, and community servant who

Roots in a Small Farming Town

Robert Childs grew up in a small farming town where, as he puts it, hard work isn’t
optional. From a very young age, that lesson was lived at home. His parents built and
ran their own blueberry business from the ground up, and Robert worked alongside
them — learning what it means to show up, put in the effort, and take pride in what you
build with your hands.

When his parents eventually sold the business, Robert didn’t slow down. He took the
values instilled in him and channeled them into something of his own.

From the Family Farm to His Own Business

Inspired by his parents’ entrepreneurial spirit, Robert launched and manages his own
landscaping business — working primarily with elderly homeowners in his community.
What started as a way to stay productive has become a real exercise in leadership,
responsibility, and service.

“Running a business has taught me responsibility, discipline, and how to lead
through action.”

Serving elderly neighbors isn’t just a job for Robert — it reflects who he is. He saw a
need in his community, stepped up, and built something meaningful from it. At an age
when most students are figuring things out, Robert is already running a business,
managing clients, and delivering results.

An Athlete Who Leads From Within

Robert’s drive doesn’t stop at work. He has been involved in sports his entire life —
basketball, soccer, and baseball — and credits team sports with shaping his
understanding of leadership in a profound way.

As he transitioned into different roles on the court and field, something clicked.
Leadership, he realized, isn’t about being the loudest or scoring the most points.

“Leadership isn’t about the spotlight. It’s about the accountability and trust you
build over the seasons with your teammates.”

earn trust — is rare. For Robert, sports weren’t just competition. They were a
classroom.

Everything Robert has done — the farm work, the business, the athletics, the

business and eventually launching his own company.

“Winning this scholarship directly supports my goal of pursuing higher education.
It allows me to focus more on preparation and less on the financial stress.”
