Meet Jay Smith, our January “No Sweat” Scholarship Winner!

We are excited to announce the latest winner of the No Sweat Scholarship: Jay Smith.

He has a determination and a drive that will enable him to achieve his dreams.  Meet Jay Smith, the winner of the recent Cirkled In “No Sweat” $2,500 Scholarship.  Jay is a senior at Edison Senior High School in Acampo, California where he takes AP and college courses, and is active in sports, community service activities and various clubs, all while maintaining a 3.85 GPA.

Jay’s dream is to attend the Oregon State University and study Oceanography or Marine Biology.   He is very passionate about the state of our oceans and the countless species that are endangered due to the pollution and destruction of the environment.

The environment is a theme throughout Jay’s volunteering and community service. 

Jay became the first intern from Stockton to work with the Stockton Environmental Justice Program, where he helps improve air quality, reduce emissions linked to global warming, and support sustainable, equitable community development.

He also participates in the Edison High School Environmental Club, where members organize water and city cleanup projects. The club has partnered with environmental organizations such as local conservation groups to promote community sustainability efforts.

Music and sports also play a part in Jay’s life.  He has been a member of the Jazz Choir and Show Choir since August 2017, where his group has earned 1st place awards in Disneyland and SixFlags competitions.  He has earned three varsity letters in water polo and three varsity letters in swimming.

Jay learned of the Cirkled In $2500 No Sweat Scholarship from his high school counselor.  He plans to use the money as a down payment toward a Study Abroad Program.

The Cirkled In team wishes Jay all the best as he graduates this year and heads off to college!
