1. Colleges Look at More Than Just  Your GPA & Test Scores

2. Your Essays & Letters of Recommendation Matter

  • A killer essay can totally change the game. It’s your chance to show your personality, talk about what drives you, and explain why you’re a fit for that school.

  • Lot more schools have gone or are going Test-optional or even Test-Blind. Meaning you don’t have to submit SAT or ACT scores if you don’t want to. Some schools are Test-Blind as well meaning even if you have a test score, they don’t want to see it.  (check their policies!)
  • Others are flexible with GPA cutoffs if you show strength in other areas. Even if your GPA isn’t perfect, schools might still give you a shot if you’ve been involved in extracurriculars, shown improvement, or have a solid application.

4. Consider Early Decision or Special Programs

  • Some schools have alternative admission routes, like special programs for students who show potential but don’t meet traditional criteria.
