Should I Apply to a College Even If I Don’t Meet the GPA or Test Score Requirements? (Spoiler: Yes!)

So you found your dream school, but there’s one tiny problem—your GPA or test scores aren’t quite hitting their average range. Does that mean you shouldn’t even bother applying? Nope, not at all!  College admissions aren’t just about numbers, and you have other ways to stand out. GPA and test scores are just one part of the equation. Here’s why you should totally still apply (and when to be realistic about it).

1. Colleges Look at More Than Just  Your GPA & Test Scores

• Many schools use a holistic admissions process.  They’re not just looking at your GPA or test scores, rather they consider essays, extracurriculars, leadership, and what makes you unique YOU.

• Others are flexible with GPA cutoffs if you show strength in other areas. Even if your GPA isn’t perfect, schools might still give you a shot if you’ve been involved in extracurriculars, shown improvement, or have a solid application.
